about

Name That Bar was a dive to end all dives in Philadelphia where I was a regular at their Thursday night open mic. I really cut my teeth there. Three girls: Mia Johnson, Sue Rosetti and Steph Hayes used to perform this song a cappella. Mark Pearson, whose band “the Brothers Four” was the first to record this song all those years ago, is the low third harmony.

lyrics

If you miss the train
I’m on You will know that I have gone
You can hear the whistle blow
A hundred miles
A hundred miles
A hundred miles
A hundred miles
You can hear the whistle blow
A hundred miles

Lord I’m one
Lord I’m two
Lord I’m three,
Lord I am four
Lord I’m five hundred miles from my home
500 miles
500 miles
500 miles
Five hundred miles
I am five hundred miles from my home

With no shirt on my back
Not a penny to my name
Lord I can’t go home this a-way
This a-way
This a-way
This a-way
Lord I can’t go home This a-way
